Engineering projects, planning to delivery
As Project Manager at Borna Fidar Rasa Co. I managed engineering projects from planning and design through execution and delivery — leading engineering design and research on mechanical and process-equipment projects, administering scope, schedule, and budget, coordinating engineers, contractors, and suppliers, and co-supervising trainee engineering students.
Dam bottom outlets, modelled and tested
At Arvin Share Pardaz Co. I led the experimental and numerical modelling and testing of three dam bottom outlets — physical-model experiments and CFD of flow, energy dissipation, pressure and velocity fields, and cavitation risk — and prepared the supporting calculations, drawings, and technical documentation. One recommendation, a change to an emergency-gate design, was adopted by the client and reduced cost.
Three measurement facilities, built and commissioned
At York University's Environmental Hydrodynamics Laboratory I designed, fabricated, and commissioned three hydraulic experimental facilities, integrating high-speed cameras, lasers, synchronization hardware, and calibration equipment, and quantified measurement uncertainty to ±0.002 m/s. Python and MATLAB pipelines run the analysis end to end.
A water-filtration technology, concept to TRL 4
Completed six competitive commercialization programs — Mitacs Lab2Market, the Ocean Startup Project, NSERC-backed Labs4, and the YSpace/IPON Inventor to Founder Fellowship — advancing a water-filtration technology from a research concept to a tested prototype (TRL 4): 100+ structured stakeholder interviews, a prototype built and tested, an IP strategy, a technology roadmap, and $60,000+ in competitive funding, scholarships, and awards.
Industry came first — hydraulic modelling, then project management — followed by the doctorate at York in environmental hydraulics. Alongside the research I completed the PMP and six commercialization programs, and I direct two undergraduate courses. I am based in Toronto.
